There is so much to do and see in Costa Rica that most people skip Tortuguero, But Tortuguero is definitely a must!
Amazing jungles and night tours to see the giant endangered sea turtle. The sea turtle pictures are not mine because cameras are not allowed on the tour. They belong to the sea turtle conservation society. If the turtles are disturbed they will return back to the water without laying eggs.
I stayed at the Pachira Lodge, it was really amazing. One day I went on a jungle hike alone and all of a sudden the jungle seemed to move. I stopped and looked around and I was surrounded by what looked like small aliens, blue and glowing. They actually turned out to be large blue crabs, about a foot in diameter, but they were still a beautiful glowing blue. The video doesn't' do them justice. . They had all scampered into their holes, peeking out at me. There must have been 20-30. They are really beautiful, in an alien sort of way. I crouched down and waited for aprox 1/2 hour, getting eaten alive by mosquitoes, finally one dared to come out of its hole. He was amazing, I was so into this beautiful crab, I had forgotten my boat and was almost left by my tour, but again those crabs were worth it. At Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean, you can see the same crab on their display at the end of the ride as you go around the corner before you get off.
you have some amazing shots. The blue crab actually sent chills down my spine. I love it!
