This will not speed up the processors in term of calculus power, this will affect primarly the bus used to connect the CPU with the RAM or the NOC to connect the cores on a single chip...

The smaller you make the chips, the more you run into nasty quantum effects, so there's only so small you can get. Adding more and more cores then is the solution. This on the other hand heavily increases a chip's performance, with less heating.
