@hibob418 Correct again (at least about the birth year). I actually grew up in the Northeast and saw mostly WWWF (that's right, with 3 W's - LOL), but knew of the St. Louis wrestling through the wrestling magazines. They would have occasional photos from The Chase, with the couples dressed to the nines watching guys pound each other into the turnbuckles. Bizarre scene, but very good times.
@elc1960 I'm sure you're right. From your screen name: if 1960 happened to be your birth year, then we probably did grow up watching the same shows. Are you from the St Louis area? I can remember watching Wrestling at the Chase as a very young kid with my grandpa. (he died in '66) For a while, they had the TV arena set-up like a nightclub with people seated at round tables watching the action. Moose Cholak would come out with that huge moose head before the matches. Great shit. Cheers.
Grew up watching Wrestling at the Chase (Hotel) on KPLR Channel 11 in St Louis. Thanks for posting this match. I thinks that's Larry Matacek (sp?) with the call and Mickey Garagiola (Joe's brother) as the ring announcer.
Rick flair in top physical condition. His knee pads are covering his knees. His hair seem real long. Looks like the beginning of his pro wrestling career.
The glory days of wrestling. The Greatest of them All in his prime with the world title and the NWA the preeminent organization in all of professional wrestling. Whooooooooooooooooooooo!
Is there a video from St. Louis where Brody actually destroys a jobber who mocked him in the ring. It was perhaps the worst beatdown anyone suffered in a jobbermatch.
There is a great book out about St Louis wrestling and Sam Muchnic. Get it.

@hibob418 If I'm not mistaken, Larry's last name is spelled "Matysik". And you are correct about the other stuff.

Roy Rogers needed help from Dale Evans, Trigger, Gabby Hayes, Andy Devine AND Lilybelle against Flair in this one.
