@DaveXRubicon it doesnt matter if a mexican or a mexican american fighter "uplifts" its heritage or how he goes about doing it. i only mentioned that frank doesnt do it very often.......Sleep Paralysis, Smile Dog.jpg, Howard Stern, Chuck Norris, reverse gravitational propulsion systems, batista is watching you masterbate!!!, True Widow-Jackyl, "how much wood would a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood", i pEE on the side of The toilet to make less noise!!!!

@MysticNinjaJay and while not the right minority to be particularly concerned about the arguments put forward by the Chicano movement (too busy watching Israel sink itself with political correctness), I can certainly acknowledge that the reason they say the US stole those states from Mexico is largely because the US stole those states from Mexico. I think Zachary Taylor went on record after the war saying it was the most disgraceful thing the US had done to that point in our history. Go giants

Well I'd imagine it would be pretty tough to do something as intrinsically impossible as hold strong nationalist sentiment for 2 distinct nation states (with a history of mutual distrust and war to boot), so..yeah, it sounds like we're agreeing to agree right up until you say (correctly in my view) that you can love your country and celebrate your heritage, but then don't add on to the end that you can't do the aforementioned if you see a state (Mexico) as indistinct from an ethnic identity.
-
@DaveXRubicon You do have serious tension with some Mexican immigrants involved with the Chicano movement who see Mexican immigration as a reclaiming of the American west that they feel was stolen by the Unites States. There are racial and ethnic Nationalist out there who don't want a unified country. They only what America for their select group of people. Those are bigots and not patriots. But I think you can celebrate your ethnic heritage and love your country.

I totally agree. i was simply poking fun at the use of the term patriotism there. It seems that your answer to that question would actually be "a mexican american would enhance patriotism in the United States in his community", While this can certainly be true, it does preclude strong nationalist sentiment towards Mexico as a country. I'm not a corn fed Iowa farm boy myself, believe me, I'm well aware of the loyalty and contributions of immigrants to the US.
-
@DaveXRubicon A Mexican-American can celebrate their Mexican heritage while being patriotic and loyal to America. If Italian-Americans can do that surely Mexican-Americans can.

@94319interpol purely out of curiosity, how would a mexican american go about uplifting patriotism? Would it be nationalism in support of the US or Mexico? Could Canada be a dark horse contender? Why did I spend time typing any of this when I have a job and work to do? Can I bang that hot chick I was talking to like a week back whose number I got but I also got a sort of weird vibe off of? If you could answer any or none of those questions I would feel indifferent. Thank you.
