Anna Bayle? Cindy Crawford redefined the concept of a supermodel back in the 90s. The catwalk had simply become a springboard in their astronomical rise as supermodel. A supermodel needs to have the proper looks as well, which Bayle doesnt have. Bayle didnt have sufficient magazine covers. Her local success in Paris was limited to the catwalks. She simply got STUCK in the catwalk. Seems like a starter like Charo Ronquillo can even outdo her list of catwalk saunters over a 10-year period.

Bayle left a mark in catwalks. i still find her the most successful Filipina supermodels . Lined up with all the legendary catwalk supermodels like Kirat, Dalma, Iman, Pat Cleveland. She does have sufficient magazine covers and catalogues. just check her website.

She awakened consciousness to every Filipina to dream high in the global fashion world. She won the title to represent New York in the US Supermodel search but chose to represent her country. Soon after the country saw her commendable performance in 1986 Ford Supermodel competition, the Philippines started sending candidates to modelling competitions like Supermodel of the World, Elite Look of the Year, etc... Melanie is truly an icon.

The Filipina's quest to achieve certified supermodelhood was a legacy of Melanie. Before, most aspiring asian models had to first establish a visible modelling presence in Europe before starting their luck in New York (toughest place to start a career in modelling for an asian in the '80s). Melanie was the first Asian to head straight in New York and made an impressive start.
