http://www.autobytel.com/hyundai/gene... Rhys Millen and the RMR Hyundai Genesis Coupe have been busy in the summer of 2012. In a little over a month's time Rhys and the guys down in Huntington were able to transform their 2013 Genesis Coupe from a full tilt drift car to a Time Attack spec hill climber and back only a few weeks later; winning both the Formula Drift Event in Las Vegas and breaking records at the 2012 Pikes Peak Hill Climb, using the exact same car.

Getting down to the dates, the Rhys Millen Racing Hyundai Genesis Coupe started out on July 21, 2012 with a 3rd Place finish in Round 5 of the Formula Drift Series in Seattle, WA. The RMR Team had a little over a week to transform the Hyundai Genesis Coupe from Drift car to Time Attack car in order to compete at the Pikes Peaks International Hill Climb in Colorado Springs on August 12, 2012. Rhys Millen won the Time Attack 2WD class, and set a new record for sumitting Pikes Peak. Fast forward two weeks time and the RMR Hyundai Genesis Coupe was back going slideways for round 6 of the 2012 Formula Drift championship at the Las Vegas Speedway where it took the win on August 25, 2012 (http://youtu.be/2BjrRXHBD34).

It is amazing to note that very little was done to transform the car from the drift set-up to hill climb time attack. RMR has done a great job with the very versatile platform that is the Hyundai Genesis Coupe. There is very little difference between the two set-ups. The drivetrain is the same: same engine, same transmission, same differential, and same suspension settings. The big changes come in sway bar settings, brakes, wheels, tires, and aerodynamic body parts for the run up Pikes Peak.

Special thanks to AJ Grasso, Director Art/Marketing Rhys Millen Racing, for the Pikes Peak GoPro footage.
