how did your talk with Joan go today as far as telling her how you were feeling about what she said? were you able to get that out in the open and discuss it now that you had time to think?
It's really yours and your employers call regarding whether you work with children or not. You would have to provide full disclosure about your diagnosis and healing. As Jess said, working with children is not the only area of Social Work.
We've met someone we were on a Mindfulness course with when they were a student at the place we worked - was awful! But don't think they recognised us. If they're professional and ethical it shouldn't matter. But might be difficult to start with.
Hi ya, for what it's worth here are our answers... We're DID and work full-time, we've also worked full-time and studied part-time for our masters. We do this because we need the structure it brings, otherwise we'd be overwhelmed with the memories and emotions - so sort of negative in that it allows us to avoid things. But its our only way to cope.
Even when the angry ones are up front, as soon as a child comes into the room there is an immediate switch to Sophie. Children are always protected.
Yes i think that you can be a multiple and work and have children, however i think it all depends on how each person's condition is and how serious it is. For instance we have only seen our therapist three times so far every two weeks so we haven't been seeing her that long. We don't have an official diognosis because when i asked her she said she doesn't believe in labels but that my condition is very serious and right now i'm not able to work., We know what we are because we do exist.
oh yah, i would not like to run into someone proffesionally that i'd seen personally. what could you even say? eeek. i want to remind you also what i said the other day, there are lots of areas of social work, and you wouldn't have to do foster care/adoption. you can work in many different situations, like with the homeless or in a hospital setting or in drug and alcohol rehab and many other areas. there are lots of options.
sociology is kind of boring when it's intro. i have enjoyed some special areas of sociology. like sociology of marriage and family, that was interesting. and sociology of death and dying is kind of interesting.

i say it's not her job to tell you what you can and cannot do she should step up off that before she chokes on the foot in her mouth

It really is dark, Carol Anne. But the sound is clear.
