Month old bratty colt gets the grownup horses playing

Tigger is a bored month old Paso Fino colt. His mother, a gray mare named Pintura, thinks he is too little to play with the grown up horses. She gestures angrily at Sunny, the buckskin mare, and tries to keep her bratty colt at her side. Next Tigger runs through the forest and manages to lose his mother and father, the bay stallion. But when the buckskin mare tries to outrace him, Tigger whinnies for help. Pintura and Viking finally figure out where he is and run to the rescue.

After this episode, Tigger decided he really likes the buckskin mare and she is now his babysitter.

That colt, Tigger, is almost three now. He lives next door to us now along with a 14-year-old retired cutting mare. His new owner is a teenage girl who is careful not to ride him much until he matures in another year. Tigger was super easy to start under saddle, eager, willing and not at all spooky.

He's two years and three months old now and we've started him under saddle. Now that he's growing up he's polite and eager to learn. He's being a delight to train. We only ride him briefly every few weeks so we don't risk causing him lameness problems in later life. We never ride a horse much until age four, and don't ride at the competition level until age five or six.

Wow your horses gaits are amazing. You can especially see it after the colt and buckskin go running my and his dam and that darker horse (Couldn't tell the color) go by. Lovely. I have never ridden a Paso Fino. It is on my lists of things to do haha

wow waitin till 3 to ride him. we start our walking horses at 18 months. and probably dont really ride them hard till 2 or a little better. but every horse is different thats for sure. :D
