From On The Beach (1974)
--------------------------------------------

SEE THE SKY ABOUT TO RAIN

See the sky about to rain, broken clouds and rain.
Locomotive, pull the train, whistle blowing through my brain.
Signals curling on an open plain, rolling down the track again.
See the sky about to rain.

Some are bound for happiness, some are bound to glory
Some are bound to live with less, who can tell your story?

See the sky about to rain, broken clouds and rain.
Locomotive, pull the train, whistle blowin' through my brain.
Signals curlin' on an open plain, rollin' down the track again.
See the sky about to rain.

I was down in Dixie Land, played a silver fiddle
Played it loud and then the man broke it down the middle.
See the sky about to rain.

  • could this be more perfect? thank you Neil your music is a bless :)

  • It's from (in my opinion) his best album, On The Beach.

  • Neil Young: Burnout God

  • Does this even exist? I thought I heard it all. Surprises like this are the greatest!

  • love the guitar in this...so cool it keeps bringing the cats

  • great album cover....!

  • I sure wish more talent was like this man these days

  • Is it just me or is the piano out of tune? (Seriously)

  • Love this song. Like the album. This is one of those songs that real Neil Young fans like and understand. There are a bunch of others. I remember in high school and college. The people who liked Neil absolutely loved him. It was some kind of bond. {This was back in the early and mid 70's.} I had friends though some of whom had good taste in music who absolutely hated Neil. I'd put one of his records on and they'd scream. Guess they didn't like his voice. That was alright. I loved him.
