Hi Dylan- Great technique. I am from Upstate Ny too but towards Rochester. Freezing today and yeah the Giants won last night so they are going to the big show. You don't really need much of a basin as you throw fairly dry. Thanks for posting.

I was in avon just the other day. It almost feels like summer here in Elmira compared to Rochester. The wind was a whippin.

How many different clays do you have? I just went through a try-out bag of low-fire clay, and then had to clean EVERYthing before going back to high-fire.
You keep the wheel running really fast. Is there a reason for this? Several of my teachers have told me to slow it down after opening up.
HEY! That's MY rib! I was wondering what those notches were for! :-)

This mid fire clay is what I used to throw with, I had about 20 pounds left and want to use it all up.
In response to the wheel speed, I guess it's all about feel. If I can feel that the clay wont collapse or that it's fairly stable then this speed seems comfortable.
It's a great rib! I love just messing around with ribs to see what cool effects you can make on the clay. Adds a bit of character!
