  • Mark, My dog shape does not stay on for more than a second.

And when animating the lizzard instead of remaining on the screen in vanishes

    after it is being drawn.

    Any suggestions

  • @arthurw1921 Can you extend the shape in the mini-timeline? Never heard of this issue, you can send me a project file if you like.

  • What about the Send to from FCP to Motion? I use that and it seems to work fine, it just confuses me when it wants me to name and save t before I work on it. There is also no, Send Back To FCP when I am done in motion. Great tips though!

  • When you choose to Send to Motion and you leave the Embed checkbox checked, the clip(s) you send are automatically replaced with the Motion project containing those clips and anything else you add to it.

  • Why even mention Animation? Motion defaults to 4x4...!

And I unfortunately almost *always* (have to) render the Motion clips, because the quality is noticeably worse, especially with scaled clips (massive jaggies). And yes, even with the FCP pref set to "Best" for Motion files. Aside from things like motion-blur not making the translation from M4->FCP either... a huge PITA and it defeats the purpose!!

Can only hope Apple gets it with their rewrite of FCP... sheesh! Love M4 anyway... ;-)

  • Motion blur DOES make the trip from Motion to FCP as long as you are rendering at best quality - it just takes a very very long time to render. Quality should be the same with Motion project in FCP, I have not seen that issue.

  • Nope, sorry! Just did it again. If you go to tinyurl . com and then add a slash and

    yebaruc

for a screenshot from within Motion, then

    ykyegj2

from the (rendered) FCP canvas/timeline of the then placed file, and

    yjnyrgz

    for my FCP pref.

    M4, FCP 701, Snow and a current 17inch MBP.

So whatever it is YOU'RE doing to get motion blur into FCP, lemme know!! cause I've never seen it work!

  • Thanks Mark, good to know.

  • Filters, generators (including text generators), and transitions don't make the trip from FCP to Motion. Instead, you should create your text directly in Motion as you did.

  • Hey Mark, really great tips on a bunch I was not aware of. I was rendering and bringing into FCP because I did not see a menu option "send to FCP". Here's a problem I ran into the other day. I created text in FCP viewer, brought it over to my browser or it was there already, don't remember and selected it and 'send to Motion'. Well the media tab opens in Motion, but not files. I had to render out of FCP and import into Motion. Later due to resolution I just created text in Motion. But ???
