DPRJones... is "gay" a "cheap shot"?

I wasn't impressed either. I really didn't expect something like that from him.

I unsubbed over DPR's "gay" video. He's putting people's life in jeopardy: reinforcing stereotypes, using it as something to laugh at, inciting homophobia, etc. I also resent the hell out of the use of the phrase, "odious twat." Ask Queers and women if we like to be talked about this way. Fucktard, gutter slime move. Don't need that crap in my life. Pass.

@williamcardno Totally agree! xD

DPR is very pro gay.
The point was that its Venom, a fundemantalist Christian who thinks homosexuality is a sin, and that's why its insulting and a cheap shot.

@williamcardno I'm not sure if I agree with you. As you know I'm very much against homophobia in any form, but I'm not sure this is it.
If DPR had indeed implied that VFX was an atheist, would it still have been bigoted? VFX might see it as an insult, but surely it would not be, not to me, not to any atheist. It would be like calling an antisemite a Jew. It's only insulting if you're an antisemite.
I'm really not defending DPR. I'm just thinking out loud. I wish I was more sure of my position.

@williamcardno What's more, he's Canadian too.

@williamcardno i get you and i wonder why dpr made it, but all in all dpr is kind of turning into a tfoot kind of guy hahaha.

@Untemperedsteel That was my reaction, "what brought this on" I started looking for a link to a VFX video that would set it up and didn't see one. The DPR video only would have made sense to me if VFX would have recently said something homophobic or had publicly denied being gay, I could find neither.
A commenter on DPR's video said that, in their opinion, it would be the same as calling VFX a closet atheist.
Seen in this light, I can see that although I would not be offended at being called an atheist (or gay), VFX might. This could be a way of looking at the situation in which DPR's statement is not homophobic, but the use of "gay" is still an insult because of the fact that VFX would take it that way.
Thoughts?

@TheLaughingOut the core of using "gay" as an insult is a bigoted position, be the speaker bigoted or open. my problem has less to do with who said it and to who, but more that it was said and meant in that way. Harvey Milk could have said it and it would remain a bigoted statement. this also sends a message that it's "okay" to use that. if dpr meant to convey that or not. this is the problem as i see it.

You just don't want to admit that VenomFangX is on your team (which is completely understandable).
