Why not? It would be an interesting take of the fairytales. Plus, some old fairytales are serious or dark. In the original Cinderella story, Cinderella's step sisters cut off their toes because they were trying to fit their feet into the glass slipper.

There are also other dark versions of the fairytales but they were changed just so that it would be more kid friendly.
