Dell XPS 15 L501x vs Studio XPS 1645 comparing HD video, sound & battery

Comparison between the 2 Dell XPS I have, the left is the Dell Studio XPS 1645 or the SXPS 16, it has 1gb ATI HD5730 graphic, 15.6" WLED 1080p display and 1520 wireless-N. on the right is the new Dell XPS 15 L501x with 2gb Nvidia 435M graphic, 15.6" B+RGLED 1080p display and intel 6300 wifi. Both have i740qm, 8gb ram & 9 cell battery.

I don't see significant difference for 2D graphic but the SXPS is a little better in terms of 3D games.

@LeisterBurnham for me the 1080p screen itself is worth because of the higher resolution as I like to put a lot of things on my screen.

I want to buy a laptop and use it mostly for gaming. What would you recommend me between this two models? Considering I will acquire them with full specs. Thanks.

@hakewyt i think both are good for gaming, they perform similarly except the xps15 has 2gb graphic, usb3 & longer battery life, which is a plus for gamers, I'll go for this if don't mind the look.

This is a really arbitrary test.

It depends on not only the videocamera's ability to pick up light/color but also the ability of the screen that I'm viewing the video on to reproduce light/color.

We can't really learn anything from this.

hi i have a dell studio 1558 with res 1366x768.i think to upgrade to 1920x1080 resolution..but i ll think that the things gonna be too small for 15.6 inches..what do you suggest...?

Wish Dell kept the sexy/smart looking design of the Studio XPS when they released this Generation of XPS laptops all well im stuck with my 2010 HP Pavilion DV6 until it dies which probably would me soon knowing my luck cause my warranty is up in like a month or 2 haha

i couldn't tell if there is any difference bet the 2 screen color gamut. IS the B+RGLed wider color gamut showing in the movies or is better in photos ?

Perhaps the movie doesn't show much.

Honestly, Battery life doesn't matter for gaming because you'll be using the A/C Adapter to get that better performance...

i have a studio xps with the SEC5448 (RGBLED) yeh the real 16" screen (first edition) 1080p screen......not this later 15.6" 1080p screen.

i havnt seen a better screen then the 16" 1080p SEC5448 Samsung RGBLED like Stusio xps 16 have...thats for sure...............
