were you a false convert? God is love, but he also loves justice and righteousness and thats why Christ had to die on the cross; to satisfy the law. Have you ever lied? Stolen anything? looked at a women with lust (adultery), used the Lord's name in vain (blasphemy), etc. What does that make you? The Bible says not to fail to assemble yourselves together. When you gather together in a church to worship together, you gain strength from that unity of worship. You gain a spiritual family. You are still to ready and study at home, for it is like a friendship. If you don't nurture it, and talk to God daily then how can you expect him to hear you when the need is immediate. The bible says to pray without ceasing. Pray daily, read the word to show yourself approved.

....I hope this scripture helps clarify for you the reason for attending church. I know it's humanly natural to think of just ourselves and what we get out of it...but with Jesus it's never about just "me"...he was all about reaching to the lost. As believers we are to serve not be served. Does that make sense? God Bless : )
