Take a ride with me and see how mighty the Mississippi is when it rains too much up north. The spillway was opened for the first time in 11 years because the river threatened the levees. You can see how low the highest parts of New Orleans really are compared to the river. When the river gets this high, the wildlife has nowhere to go but into the neighborhoods. Best place to see the river is on the ferry at Canal St. It's free and beautiful. You can see how high it is against the levees best during the 2nd and 3rd songs.
