One thing I have always been proud of is how, throughout the proclamation, it is addressed to Irishmen and Irishwomen, not just Irishmen and that this is continued throughout the document. Unfortunately it is only relatively recently that this equal treatment has been practiced in fact. Still, you would be hard pressed to find a similar document with that emphasis on gender equality.

No matter what the lisbon treaty does to us,or what the EU does to us,this document will still stand.....to protect the lives of Irish people.
