Strange Circus Review

Strange Circus is a Japanese horror film directed by Sion Sono. In my opinion, this is his absolute best because the movie's story is about as terrifying as horror comes. The film deals with very touchy subject matter as it follows the story of a little girl who is sexually assaulted by her father and physically abused by her mother. With it's gorgeous visuals, interesting soundtrack, deep characters, and never ending twists, this movie is as highly recommended as possible. Watch it immediately.

i really enjoyed this movie, this is my favorite Sion Sono movie to date. his movies are so disturbing so i was ready for this one, this one really pushed the limits. i love how the movie starts and you enter a morbid cirque du soleil a very sexual one. the fear sion sono taps into is very strange mind fuck. after i watched the movie i felt empty and horrified like if i saw a live execution. after i watched Santa Sangre i felt the same way. i think thats funny since they both have circus.

@Pandabearmadness I loved everything you said there. His movies are generally disturbing but this one certainly deals with such touchy subject matter that it can be really off putting for sure. I have never seen Santa Sangre so I think I will have to check that one out at some point so I can actually relate to what you are talking about. I'm glad you got the chance to watch this one :)

Hey been awhile since I've seen or commented on one of your vids. You are getting better man. I'd love to see a vid of your "top 10 recommendations" or "top 3 in x category", since I definitely don't have time to watch everything.

I'd lose those long shots of you sitting in a chair though. Unless you want to show something interesting that you can only do in person, voice-overs are fine! If you want us to see that you are a real person, face shots work well enough for that, but unnecessary IMO.

@onikin It's nice to hear from you :) I can't put my finger on why I even did those chair shots to begin with. But since I started doing these reviews...I've wanted to keep everything the same (I always show everything in the exact same order). It makes sense what you're saying... I should make a change in due time... all those shots really only show just how low quality my camera really is hahaha :) Take care buddy.

Oh, in addition to below, I just found Serif Movieplus Starter does PiP or split-screen and other effects for free. It's a powerful, easy editor if you are just using Windows Movie Maker or iMovie.

@onikin Yeah you're totally right I'm just using Windows Movie Maker. I used to use Adobe After Effects for school projects... that program was amazing. I desperately need a new laptop period. I've had the same one for almost 6-7 years and it just moves at a snails pace :( Oh well work with what you got I guess!

hey no problem. keep at it. if you get a good video editor, you can do things like split screen with you on one side and the video on the other, or picture-in-picture, or whatever too to add some fun or dazzle.

i think "cold fish", "noriko's dinner table" and "love exposure" were better.

but i agree, it's an amazing movie!!
