@Sonikclaw2 If you use a suppressor/moderator on a rifle that fires a subsonic round,it is virtually inaudible. If you use it on a rifle that fires any other type of round, you will still get a loud crack. This is because the bullet will break the sound barrier as it leaves the rifle. No matter how big the can on the end of the gun, you will get that crack.

@Sonikclaw2 sniper rifles are a rifle that a sniper is using...not a hunter

@clintusmaximus If you want to get technical about it then it's actually in Raisin, TX.

It seems like Sniper Rifles would be hellishly loud in real life. I don't know a thing about weapon suppressors, but wouldn't help a little?

@Sonikclaw2 A rifle is a rifle, a "sniper rifle" is just a more accurate rifle. We were using suppressed short barreled AR15's which I don't think anyone would consider a "sniper rifle". Suppressors help out a lot. Not only do they decrease the sound of the report enough that you don't need hearing protection, it makes it impossible for the animals to determine which direction the shot came from so they don't always run away.

@WildHogHunters Wow. It's still pretty loud even WITH the suppressed. Doesn't sound like it does in GoldenEye. But I digress.

@Sonikclaw2 Haha...no, a suppressor doesn't really work as well as they do on GoldenEye unless it's on a .22lr. You also have to remember, this video was shot out of a box blind so it is a little louder than if you were just shooting out in the open.

@WildHogHunters OH! That makes much more sense.
Also, thermal sight is really cool when hunting. I've heard that there is more than one type of heat that you can switch to while using thermal, such as "white hot" and "dark hot". Is this true?
Sonikclaw2 11 months ago
@Sonikclaw2 Yes, you can switch between black hot and white hot. We actually got some footage from one of our latest hunts that shows a perfect example of the black hot setting. We were stalking towards an area on a road that had been corned earlier when a big hog walks out. You can see David and I kneeling down in the middle of the road aiming at the large black hog walking out and when we shoot you can see the black shell casings flying out of the gun. We should have that video up soon.
