  • horns up bro, i've got a bad technique when i slap; my bass has 24 frets and i keep slapping the harmonic or over the pick-up which i don't want to do because they're humbuckers; any suggestions?

  • @DantePierotti29 I agree completely. If you want to grow as a bassist and musician, you gotta go for the prize!

  • @69erthx1138 those squires arent bad at all, throw a badass bridge and some new pickups and you basically have a geddy. i'd just save up the extra dough and get the real deal though, when you really think about it you can always get the "cheaper" version of a certain bass/guitar, but deep down you're always going to want the real thing and somewhere along the road you'll end up buying it anyways. so why spend that $400 when you're only going to end up getting a real geddy eventually :D

  • @DantePierotti29 Played on one of these at Sam Ash here in Charlotte NC, feel in love with it instantly. Can't believe they float around used. The Squire jazz ($400 new) has a bottom very similar, but the playing on the top left something to be desired.

  • @69erthx1138 go for it dude, you can pick them up used for like $500, they're totally worth it

  • @gilllie666 well the only problem i've ever had with slapping on a 24 fret is popping, it takes a bit of getting used to because the there isnt a whole lot of room to get under that string because of the extended fingerboard. as far as hitting the harmonic over the pickup, try thumping a little closer to the bottom of the neck like over the last two frets, that should help.

  • @gilllie666 I've noticed the 24 fretters require a "sweet spot" to slap them. All the ERB's have this problem as well. One seven string player I meet told me that you gotta develop more articulation when you slap and less blind force. He compared it to the difference of slap and double thumb.

  • @DantePierotti29 God, no wonder it sounds so much like Larry! The Geddy is the king of Fender J's, I want one so bad!
