The Yukon's best loved balladeer sings the story song in praise of the river boats that once plied the Yukon River. This song and 10 other video selections are contained on the DVD HANK KARR'S YUKON BOOK OF MEMORIES, available at shops throughout the Yukon.

A shame the Yukoners have never tried to build a steel boat replica to old plans, to let the many tourists from all over the world relive the golden age. Wooden boats like the original ones will not last, though. Look to Switzerland:

Scores of proud all-steel steam powered sidewheelers dating back to up to 108 years ago still take visitors on excursions or locals on scheduled service on many lakes there.
