KTVU-TV 10 p.m. news reports on the College's Great Bay Area Day of Service for Schools held on March 16, 2013. The massive community service effort involving 22 under resourced K-12 schools across the region was a tremendous success. The College had a goal of 750 volunteers, but found that nearly 1,000 individuals had indicated interest in participating. Volunteers provided a variety of service projects at the schools including painting, landscaping and organizing classroom libraries.
The Great Bay Area Service Day for Schools underscores Saint Mary's mission of social justice and commitment to service for the common good and is part of a series of public forums, academic colloquiums and spiritual programs to mark the College's 150th anniversary.
