They came streaming through the gate and up the back to the hall - small children, mums and dads, grandparents and teenagers. What was the attraction? After all, it is 4.00pm on a Sunday afternoon! Why would so many families be gathering in the hall?
They were responding to the invitation to attend our first Messy Church at Aspley-Albany Creek Anglican Church. This concept originated in the UK as a 'fresh expression' of church reaching out to families who may not have been previously connected with the church. We conected with the large number of families who come along to Mainly Music each week but who do not normally attend our church services. For the program on Sunday, 27 February, we selected the theme of Creation and a range of related all-age activities were offered including playing with slime, recycled junk creations, a hand print tableau, card making and straw creations.
