Farruca, from Juan Martins 'El Arte Flamenco De La Guitarra',
lesson 14! I enjoyed learning this, it is the longest solo in the book so far, and it felt like Juan was putting me to the test so far, because it used a lot of the techniques from the other lessons.
a couple of mistakes in there, but i have only just learned this! :-P
Please rate and comment, offer advice, etc :-)
Cheers!
Derek :-)

  • Hi, I'm learning flamenco for a couple of weeks now and i'm at the three sevillanas. I think your last sevillana isn't 100 percent perfect and i think juan plays farruca faster, isn't it? But well done:p

  • @jacobvermeulen48 correct on both parts, but thanks!

I can play them both a lot better now! Why not record your efforts? now that youtube have altered our channel layouts, i can finally get my playlists for each lesson! the idea being that the instruction video is in the list, with my attempt, your attempt, everyones attempt at the same piece in the same place! surely we would all learn a few tricks watching them all together? :-)

  • good job! the solo is really nice, the tremolo could use a bit of work but aside from that its excellent :D

  • @c0olGuY77 thanks very much! ive got better since recording that :-)

  • very good man!bravo and oleey!

  • @kolokythes1 gracias amigo!

  • Should be "Sabicas" of course...

  • My third recommendation is to search for Grisha Goryachev Sabica Farruca. There's a video of him playing in front of a brick wall, with a good view of his right hand. The economy of movement, especially in picado, is important.

  • The second video of Gades is from Carlos Saura's movie "Carmen". He dances without accompaniment. You might try fitting some of your piece to his dance.

  • Farruca is a dance form. The guitar solo needs to carry the "aire" of the dance accompaniment, the dynamics and rhythmic nuances. Here is one of the great dancers of the 20th century dancing farruca.

    Search for Antonio Gades Farruca

  • A bit weak, but otherwise a good farruca solo. I didn't detect an "allamada" in the beginning, and since it is a dance tune, one is needed. your tremolo needs to be a bit faster. Don't stop playing!
