I read the book "Andersonville" and really learned a lot. I don't believe that the commander should have taken the blame and be hung. He ordered food and supplies for the prisoners but he never got them. I am not defending him, but he did try, although he was a real mean bastard.
Love the video but hate the comments. All these people talking about hell and heaven n god. It's all bullshit, there is no hell and there is no heaven. There sure as fuck aint a god. SO move along people.
i had a relative die in andersonville and i beleavs that he looks down on us and says thanks for remembering this tragity and never forget and i beleave that the north and the south should just put the past behind them god bless you all
I just want to say one more thing... The victims of Andersonville and all the rest of the prison camps... victims of the entire war, the families who lost their brave daddy, may you brave men rest in Heaven peacefully. You fought and died for your beliefs. You fought for your family, your home. You died as Americans, nothing could ever take that away from you. North and South. Why are we so seperated? Lets hold hands as one nation forever. ♥♥♥♥♥ North ♥ South ♥♥♥♥♥
@trainkids I`m just saying... I know everyone isn`t as understanding as I am. That`s the part of being understanding I guess. Anyhow... Just show respect for both sides, okay? I used to hate the North too but when I started growing up I looked back on all the things I said and I felt guilty. I then realized how cruel we were too. I was angry to know my relatives were treating you Yanks the same way as the Nazis treated Jews but the North did the same thing. So let nobody rot in hell. RIP.
@trainkids Excuse you? That was very inmature. Okay... I have a Union grandfather and Confederate grandfather... and I have great respect for all of these men. Even if I weren`t related to that Union troop, I would still respect him. But you know what, I hated these prison camps too and believe me the Union was very cruel to the CSA too. It was both wrong of them, a heritage I am not fond of. Nobody deserves to rot in hell. Why? They already been through hell! Through this war! I HATE WAR!
Thank you from this great great granddaughter of a USMRR surveyor and construction foreman who was imprisoned in Andersonville. When I saw the Turner movie I wept at the horrors that he lived through. (USMRR-United States Military Rail Road)
