  • Yeah i got a kalimba in Africa and i only know a couple songs i taught myself but if you could put like a fingering chart or how to video on there that would be very helpful on learning this instrument

  • Well, every kalimba type has its own tuning - which makes my life very busy, as my job is to provide interesting and varied high quality instructional material for each kalimba I sell. Visit the Kalimba Magic site and look for your kalimba - or perhaps provide me with a photo of your kalimba, and I may be able to figure out which tuning it is in or should be in. -Mark

  • do you not have problems with feedback?

  • I don't have problems with feedbakc, but I don't play with rock and roll bands - many bands have a very high stage volume, which would probably feed back. -Mark

  • Awesome Vid, Sir. what kind of pick-up are you using. I'm planning on making one myself here soon.

  • The pickup is installed in Africa, and it is sort of a trade secret -Mark

  • Obviously, while you're playing, you're in your world. That's the magic of music. ^_^ I love the sound the kalimba makes.

  • I JUST BOUGHT ONE!

  • wow..... :-) makes me happy just hearing it

  • Is it a Digitech RP200 you're using? And which kalimba are you using?

  • it seems that you're playing a gameboy

  • Watch the guitar chord - the first two cycles of the music are completely acoustic and the chord is not plugged in - the second two cycles have the chord plugged into the amp. After that I experiment with different effects in the digital effects processor.

This solid body KALIMBA does not have any natural vibrato, but see for example the video for "first look inside" to see and hear the natural vibrato/wah-wah you can get with a box kalimba. -Mark
