We booked far in advance for a 2013 cruise. We got deck 9 towards mid-ship. Do you know if that's a fairly good location? BTW is your room the "standard" balcony room? We got the cheapest with balcony. Just wondering if our beds pushed together will likely be the same size. Thank you for sharing and feel free to check out the travel videos on my channel too.

@apr5294 actually.? ive been on cruises before the lower the better

Actually, the lower you go the less motion. Less motion if far aft or mid-ship. Far forward is where you'll feel the most motion, as the first part of the ship to go up is the front.

@apr5294 thats incorrect. The higher you go up the more you feel the rocking. definitely.

@apr5294 That would be "rooms up higher may rock ( in fact roll ) more". Lower and middle are least likely to feel motion. Upper decks are more expensive because traditionally the "upper class" were kept "above" the steerage class folks. These days it's just closer to everything and the views are better.

was this before or after the refurbishment?

@tirdadbet i was on 9th floor mid ship and it was great, no noise except from the other rooms as usual and no swinging at all...it's hard to even notice on this big ships with new tech stabilisation.

what is the best deck to stay on?
is it better to be higher or lower in these cruises?thanks, we've never been to one yet.

@tirdadbet Rooms on lower decks are less expensive, but the ship rocks more the lower you go. Rooms that are on a higher deck in the middle of the ship are generally the most comfortable. You want to make sure you get a room with floors of rooms above and below you, so you dont get noise from a public space, such as a theater or buffet.
