Hackney: The 2012 Impact

In the run up to the London 2012 Olympic Games, unprecedented regeneration and development is occurring in Hackney. The Hackney business community and the mayor talk about some of the benefits the Olympics will bring to the area and what the borough is already doing to prepare.

Athletes and community members also talk about the large investments going into sporting facilities in the area and the development going on around them. Many see this as a chance for East London to shine.

this is why I wanted the olympics to come to london, more than just sport, more than just the cool venues, but because this is providing London with the excuse to invest in some of its poorest areas and transforming them into new centres. This is great for London; good luck Hackney!
