Akira Kurosawa's DREAMS (Yume, 1990) provides a look into the mind of one of the greatest directors of all time through a series of vignettes based on his own dreams. Co-directed by Kurosawa's long-time friend and collaborator Ishirô Honda, the picture ranks among the director's most unique (and, in my opinion, finest) works. Veteran composer Shinichirô Ikebe captures the alternating surreality and graveness of the film flawlessly in his mesmerizing score.
