@slimithy13 How many great fighters were around when liston fought, Patterson and Ali maybe Williams, I like Johnson greatly but you are not judginy on boxing skills only on the scenario that the person was in, old timers deeply respect Liston cause they know the truth about him and how great he truely was:)

@MrBumboclart all i asked you to do is name a few names on listons resume that would justify him being in the top 3. if he was so great then why not just name some names instead of insulting johnson all over again. let me ask you a few more questions, did liston have 104 fights, or box 20 rounds, or have 10 fights in 1 year? did liston ever travel 8000 miles to woop a guy infront of 30,000 jeering racists? did liston ever win a fight considered the fight of the century?....i think not!

@slimithy13 Listen pal, don't bash Liston's resume then try to make Johnson's seem better than it is. He knocked out an old Fitzsimmons, an old Jeffries, the knocked out a MIDDLEWEIGHT in Stanley Ketchel and we're supposed to be impressed? Sonny was ducked for 9 YEARS before he got a title-shot, he was in his late-30's when he fought Patterson and was probably reaching 40 when he faced Ali. He was a much better fighter than Johnson who was good for his day, not much else.

@MrBumboclart could liston beat foreman? nope! holmes? half blind frazer? nope! jack beat everyone there was to beat, he had to chase burns (ranked number 1 in the world at the time) all the way to australia. he fought ketchel cos ketchel was the only man with the balls and skill to beat him. he beat langford and langford himself is an all time great. he fought people from all over the world and went all over the world to do it. so i ask you, who did liston beat besides patterson and williams?
slimithy13 3 weeks ago
@slimithy13 Jack Johnson at 3? The man is very overrated. He beat a middleweight Ketchel, an old Jeffries..not many more to mention. His Langford fight has mixed reports, he beat Tommy Burns (a nobody) for the title and did little else, he was also knocked out by Willard, an awful fighter. Liston should be ranked way higher.

@MrBumboclart the top 3 heavy weights of all time are ali, joe louis and jack johnson. it dont really matter what the order is cos i wont argue anyway. i do think sonny is among a number of fighters who could make the top 5 list, however i personally would give 4 to forman and 5 to holmes.

@TheStonecoldloner His jab would put people to sleep. Ridiculous reach, huge hands, incredible leverage, thunderous power with both hands. Look what he does to a younger, bigger Cleveland Williams, twice. Williams was one of the best HWs to never win the title. Liston scientifically, methodically, and with precision crushes Williams. Came along too soon. He is more appreciated now than during his career. Ali may have beat him in a legit fight, but not with that phantom blow.

@B04Jordan Both men were great fighters. I have them #3 and #4, Liston then Holmes, in my Top 10 Heavyweight List. I would respect any man who had Larry at #3 though, Holmes was a terrific fighter!!
