  • Chris Miller has no concept of automotive design. YES, IT WILL cost more to increase the MPG in larger car classes. In order to make a car lighter, you have to use exotic, expensive materials like aluminum, magnesium, titanium, and carbon fiber. They will also have to add expensive energy recovery systems with batteries and give up some reliability due to the additional complexity, lighter and more fragile parts, and lower viscosity oils.
