@kenny222 This is so different from roller derby today. Nowadays if you start fights you get kicked for the whole game automatically, and trust me, we want to stay in the game.

Who'd have thought whores on skates rolling around on the floor 'fighting' could be so gay. This is just as demeaning to women as Slut Walks.

@studiosandbox what the fuck is your problem with roller derby?
-

Psh i would watch your tongue before you get it cut out! Ahahaha! It's super competitive nowadays because we are all focussed on becoming the best and being the best. I do agree that roller derby has lost some of it's more crowd-pleasing details, but to be replaced by intense competitiveness makes it all the better.

Roller Derby has not become "boring", it has become a more serious sport. It's not a show anymore, it's a sport.
once again, this is one of the 1st rollergirl bouts, so look at it as nothing else but historical video. Two of the ladies in it is Ivanna S. Pankin who later on would of founded the WFTDA & Mayhemily who would start the Renegade org. This bout is from 2003. I personally like the fighting concept, I think most the fans liked it too. The so called legit roller derby games of today are BORRRRING.
Perhaps thats why it's NOT on TV anymore???

Keep in mind that this video is circa 2003. This is the first bout of the second modern league. A LOT has changed (for the better) since then.
Consider this bout a historical curiosity. Ala Ma Bogash sticking skaters with her hairpin in the 1940s. Not necessarily good derby, but it's part of the history.
I wouldn't consider the "pro wrestling on wheels" aspect a good thing. I'm not into fights, nor any theatrics. The derby you're a fan of wrecked what was a far more real sport back in the 50s.

What this video shows was that the crowds were there at the beginning. These days there might be about 400 leagues playing a 'straight game'. but they mostly play about 6 bouts a year(due to the high injury rates)and to much smaller crowds.
This particular bout with all it's glorious fights was with some of the best(and still skating) in the business; Mayhemily, Magnum, Go Go Liz, Ivana S Pankin, ect. Most of the leagues these days are out of shape girls that never put on a pair of skates b4!
