Nicknamed "spiders" for their gravity-defying skills in web-like constructions, Hong Kong's bamboo scaffolders have risen above predictions that their trade would disappear. They remain a common sight high above the streets of the city, scaling the sides of towering, ultra-modern steel and glass buildings on traditional bamboo poles linked through ancient design concepts.   • ive done both bamboo 6 years and steel 9 . Its a no brainer bamboo is shit loads safer . No pinch points , easy on the body , inert from heat/ chemicals burns on hot days , faster but problem in the west is dickhead safety personal that do not have a clue about real  life but think they are king cock because of a paper degree they rushed off to get because in many cases they were incompetent at their job .

  • I've gone up to those bamboo scaffolds in several Chinese cities and tried to shake them. They are certainly stiffer than the steel scaffolds I have been on here in the US, but the quality control issues there would keep me off of them.
