Show: The Big Questions (recorded Nov. 25, 2007)

Hosts: Nicky Campbell and Sonia Deol

Discussion Panel: Archbishop of Canterbury Lord Carey, Richard Dawkins, Ann Widdecombe, and Jonathan Bartley. Additional Guest: John Barrowman (actor and singer).

Discussion Topics:
(1.) Should blasphemy REMAIN illegal in Great Britain? (2.) John Barrowman talks about being gay, the origins of his homosexuality, telling his parents that he is gay, the way many religions cause gays to feel about their homosexuality, and offending people. (3.) Is it really possible and good to live without lying? Is it sometimes necessary to lie? (4.) Should children be labeled as belonging to a particular religion? In their effort to bring up their children in their religious faith, are religious parents too dogmatic in their assertions regarding The Truth? Do they unduly restrict their children's exploration of other options? Do they unwittingly sabotage their children's capacity for critical thinking?

  • "I don't think I've been brainwashed" - the brainwashed never know they have been....

  • @zakizack lol

  • That woman pisses me off so much...I completely agree with J. Barrowman. I am a fan of his already, but that has no sway in my beliefs, and I've agreed with everything he has said.

  • thumps up if you think Christopher hitchens would have made this kid cry.

  • Children should be given a chance to believe what they want, but that also means they should be educated in religion, ethics, and morality. I was raised as an athiest, but I went to a Christian school, and although I don't believe in God, a lot of my belief system has been taken from what I learnt from school. The most important thing is to provide children with a sense of right and wrong, and an education on religion so when they are old enough to choose they can make an informed decision.

  • faith = belief

    science = evidence

    No wonder they clash. If any religious apologist says otherwise, they're welcome to to live in a cave devoid of technological advancements.

  • gay people get too much shit

  • @xtrashed MORON
