Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater on PCSX2, the PS2 emulator R 2632 in 720p HD at full speed (50FPS).

The game runs exceptionally well and at full speed even at high resolutions. Can be played in 720p HD at 50FPS (full speed).

The game does lag a bit in the cinematic scenes and just before the swamp lands to about 35FPS, but apart from that the game runs full speed constantly.

[Please note that compared to dolphin, PCSX2 needs a decent computer system to run games as decent speeds with good graphics. My earlier pc could only run this game at half speed at the lowest resolution, now it runs it at full speed even when fraps is recording... major improvement]

  • I have a i3 2100 an radon 6770 with 4 gb of ddr3 1600 ram running it at a solid 35+ :)

  • On paper the gamecube is more powerful than the ps2, but, when you play the gamecube games the majority of textures close up or far from the player always looks smudged or blurred compared to the ps2 which games have more detail in the texturing and also more object displayed on screen like grass and trees. gamecube and xbox both have 4 pixel pipelines compared to the ps2 16 pixel pipelines.

  • @Jomppariable

the pcsx2 emulator was written to take advantage of only dual-cores, but, you need a processor that runs faster than 3ghz to play the emulator at 60fps. I would get a quad-core 3.2ghz letting the emulator use the 2 cores and the OS the other 2 cores so everything can run smoothly. I have core2duo 2.40ghz 4Mb cache and the game runs at 25-30fps but to me it seems to run at 5-10fps. But I can overclock my 2.4 to 3.0 easy without heat issue.

  • This was by far the best in the series. And it looks amazing in hd. Great video.

  • I have a dual-core 2.5GHz processor, 1GB GeForce DTX550 graphics card, 5GB RAM and so on and i can't run anything fast...!!! Why is it so? Are these good specs? What to do?

  • Dude I tried to play a game from an old original ps2 disc (Idk how I've forgot to sell that) and it works... but when I start to play it the screen...umm...how to say... the text bounces a bit like 1-2 centimeters

  • @koldproxy I happen to had a MGS4 bundle of the 80GB phat PS3 and it ran MGS3 via emulation, in some parts, like a jungle full of enemies, it ran in slomo, literally, because it doesn't frameskip. Even an acual PS2 can have a hard time running this game.

  • @RemovdSande11 I have the settings on one of my videos towards the end that might help i also have a video on MGS TTS which runs 110% on PC with Dolphin ww w.youtube.com/user/ste0002ste0002/feed if your interested (remove the space).

  • There should be the option, "Chosing between the MGS games would be like chosing between my children!"

  • when i click on new game i am back to the previous scene.
