The new trailer for the film version of H. P. Lovecraft's "At the Mountains of Madness".

This is a different take on the same material I used in an earlier faux trailer. I wanted a more "Hollywood" feel, so there's an increased emphasis on action sequences, sound bites, and rapid editing than the original.

As a faux trailer I think this does a pretty good job of hitting all the major plot points of the story without too much rock 'em, sock 'em Hollywood action.

  • very well made

    mostly Frankenstein I assume?

  • @weeredfrog A sprinkling of Frankenstein. I cackled with glee when I first heard the "Do you share my madness?" line.

  • What movie is the opening portion from (@ 0:11)? Where he's talking about the Miskatonik University expedition.

  • @Renkinjutsushi "The Mountains of the Moon" from 1990

  • Is the movies: Frankestein, King Kong, The mountain of the moon... and others

  • @elchacal1971 My compliments. "Mountains of the Moon" is a sadly overlooked movie.

  • @SebaCful The expedition arrives at Antarctica via two sailing ships. Once the base camp is established the five aircraft are used to eventually set up Lake's ill-fated operation.

  • @Propnomicon It's being worked on by Guillermo del Toro, no less!

  • please make the fake movie!

  • @sargathan guillermo del toro's doing his best to make it but that won't be easy

  • @scatcatpdx

Maybe we just want to celebrate the book, and Lovecraft in general.

  • actually "at the mountins of madness" was a movie with some real love behind it

universal pictures after making scott pilgrim set their eyes to......I fergot his name who wanted to make a monster movie "at the mountins of madness"

they got some really good people behind it, they even got james camerons "real" 3D

but twas not meant to be.

now universal was starpped for cash but.....ok im running out of words go to

"escapist magazine" then scroll down to "the big picture" page 2 "the numbers"ep

  • Clearly fake.

But the motive, to encourage someone to make a feature film from HP Lovecraft's "Mountains of Madness" is a good one.
