Combining augmented reality gaming with the iPhone, the OggBoard represents the future of board gaming. The patent pending design allows for two iPhones or other devices to point towards the playing surface and overlays characters on game pieces with special patterns on them.
The OggBoard Project involves securing funding through Kickstarter for the manufacturing of the OggBoard as well as the development of a turn-based strategy game to launch with it. We really appreciate your support and feel free to share this video!

ummm isnt this the same thing as nintendo's ar cards for the 3ds?

I'd want it to have different board you can lay over the top to change games...
Adding a different main stage.. if you will.. to the actualy game.
Chess coudl have little sunken holes to the pieses lock in nicely and align properly.

Interesting idea.
But, if it's an iPhone exclusive, I'd never buy one.
Maybe if it came on more platforms - I'd never sacrifice my money to Apple just to play a board game. They've screwed me over too many times.
BTW:
If it's called the "ogg" board, you should make one of the major updates to the application be called "Vorbis". =P

If you make this (and I REALLY hope you do, this looks amazing!), could you maybe make it open source, or at least to some respect? So people could add new character animations, new games and the like. It would be great for publicity, with people posting videos and pictures of their own home-made games on the Internet. And the boardgames idea should make it relatively easy to develop for, even for newcomers to game making. I want to put money towards it but I'm only 14, but you have my support!

@MetalShadowChaos I like your way of thinking. We eventually want to get several games developed for it and hope that other developers do the same. I agree that it would be awesome if we could have at least one open source game so that people could use their own models and animations. I will add that to my wish list to give to the devs!

@RoelTorfs We needed to start somewhere and I happen to have an iPhone :) If we get enough funding we will develop for both simultaneously.
