  • @chookfeather His drastic personality changes were probably also due to the fact that he had Syphilis

  • cont-That accident combined with the progress of varicose ulcers in his legs said to be caused by open sores from other minor jousting injuries and garters he wore to show of calf muscles - well developed calf muscles were attractive in those days - that he became immobile and he became over weight. Within in six months of THAT accident Henry had beheaded Anne and married Jane Seymour...There is now a belief that this accident also caused frontal lobe damage and severe personality changes.

  • Again..the inaccuracies about Henry and his life based on movie and tv images. Henry was a very well built, fit man who was extremely sporty. It was only after his last jousting accident at the age of 44 (which caused Anne to miscarry their son), which they thought would be fatal that he was told he couldn't joust anymore. TBC

  • Why on earth do we romanticize the situations with Henry VIII and his wives? He wasn't an attractive seducer. He was grossly overweight and only got what he wanted because he was king. Any girl refusing to become his bed mate would simply be executed. There are lots of other kings and queens to obsess over that made greater contributions.

Though I will admit, I am a little fascinated by it too :P

  • I love so much how Anne's face is illuminated perfectly, like an angel's when she was holding baby elizabeth in her arms...then ruined by henry's anger and disappointment...followed by a horrendous "love" scene.

  • @starryian007: Hahahaha! Who said it has to be cheap, tacky, and porn - like? there are millions of great movies without sex, gratitious or otherwise. The Tudor's writer and producers purposely reconfigured it for a cable tv audience...There are many avenues you can take as a writer and you seem to have a writer's flair, so why not go for it.

  • @madamgmail A good idea but unfortunately my literary prowess does not extend to writing cheap and cringingly tacky porn. It is buttock-clenchingly embarassing, with wildly anachronistic dialogue and historically innacurate narrative.

I'll leave that to the writers of this toe-curlingly, bad twaddle. But thanks anyway :-)

  • @starryian007 : from this point forward, you should instead write how you want literature and history to be depicted or reconfigured. Look for finanicial backers and maybe your works will get produced.

  • @madamgmail It is a huge pity that history has been warped into some kind of pornographic muse act for the 'entertainment' of others. It seems to be a common theme these days when making something deemed 'historical' or 'classical that is is turned into into some kind of cheap bawdy tale as it's central theme. Jane Austin and the Bronte sisters would turn in their graves the way their works have been depicted.

It has brought history to the gutter level of something akin to a modern day tabloid.

  • King Henry only love himself, does he know it the male gene that determine gender. What an moron.
