With the race on to reduce global warming and fossil fuel dependency, experts in alternative energy see a bright future for renewable resources like wind, solar, hydro-power and geothermal energy. But getting it onto the electrical grid to power homes and businesses is a major challenge that engineers and environmentalists are wrestling with. QUEST and Climate Watch team up to look at the "Smart Grid" of the future and how it might be improved to more cleanly and efficiently keep the lights on in California.

21:32 California does not lead the world qualitatively in setting an example for renewable energy. That is the myth of the Americans being ahead of everybody and I find it intriguing that now that the conservative stance is changing in the USA, they bring that up, as if it encouraged the Americans into renewables by telling how much better than we they are. California can only set an example for USA. The rest of the world has never said no to renewables or climate warming. We are ahead of you.

When I look at these people, I see that their style is similar to the cast in the Star Trek: Next Generation. This tells me that the cast was from California themselves. Especially Spiner, Frakes and McFadden
