This is a short clip from William Wyler's "Dead End" (1937), a classic drama starring Humphrey Bogart, Joel McCrea, Claire Trevor, and Sylvia Sidney.

A hoodlum, Hugh 'Baby Face' Martin (Bogart), visits his old neighborhood in New York. He decides to see his teenage sweetheart Francey (Claire Trevor). Martin and Francey are bitterly surprised to learn what they have become: Martin is a doomed killer and Francey is a diseased prostitute.

This is one of the most emotionally powerful scenes in the film. I think Bogart's acting, especially his face when he realizes that Francey is a prostitute, is absolutely superb.

This film is notable as being the first film appearance of the Dead End Kids.
