Have questions about the new power meter installed on your home? Do you wonder how it works? Will it record energy use differently than the "old" version? Will the new smart meter change your energy bill?

Millions of smart meters are being installed on homes across California. Mandated by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), all investor owned utilities including Southern California Edison (SCE), Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), and San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) are installing smart meters at residential and business customer properties.

Smart meters are the residential point of information collection for the smart grid. They connect homes to the smart grid in much the same way a cable or DSL modem connects a home to the internet.

"While most homeowners are familiar with the installation of smart meters on their homes, many are seeking more information about the smart meters' impact on their electric bills," said Scott Gordon, Vice President, Residential Sales for HelioPower. "We will cover the things homeowners need to know about smart meters including how to read the meter and how the new digital meters record energy use."

  • Nazis love Smart Meter

  • Are house has one here in Kingwood

  • @yandrsupreme unfortunately the smart meter uses the copper wiring in your home as an antenna. I have an analyzer and have checked large homes that have smart meters. The only thing you can do is turn the power off, to your bedroom, at the breaker while sleeping. The ultimate choice is to have an analog.

  • @2011so5 That's why I had my meter installed on the power pole....... 125 feet from my house.

  • When you start waking up at odd hours at the same time every night and start getting frequent headaches you will know where they are coming from. Yes, your s/meter pulses all day and all night, even when your sleeping! No you can't turn it off, unlike the other wireless devices. This class 2b carcinogen is in the same class as lead paint. Hopefully your not the lucky one to become electrosensitive. Pulse pulse pulse

  • Some EMF exposure numbers to contemplate:

Comparison of RF Power Density in the Everyday Environment

Device Relative Power Density in microwatts per square centimeter (μW/cm2)

FM radio or TV broadcast station signal 0.005

    SmartMeter™ device at 10 feet 0.1

    Cyber cafe (Wi‐Fi) 10‐20

    Laptop computer 10‐20

Cell phone held up to head 30‐10,000

    Walkie‐Talkie at head 500‐42,000

Microwave oven, two inches from door 5000

  • The purported and alleged dangers concerning EMF signal transmissions from smartmeters are outside the scope of this video. I am aware of the discussions concerning EMF and smartmeters, but with the CPUC's recent guidelines concerning the protection of private information captured by these devices, I thought that subject to be more relevant than covering the yet unresolved EMF debate. Just to clarify: I do not work for the utility and am forced to live/deal with smartmeters like everyone else.

  • I think you wouldn't be so happy if you realized how much radiation you are absorbing standing by the meter AND inside your home and through your yard. Visit Smart Meter Dangers d o t o r g for more info. Unbelievably poor research on this guy's part. Or does he owrk for the utilty company? I see that he does. Figures.

  • This is all happy and cheerful about a surveillance device that emits weapons-level pulses of EMF into private homes, celebrating the few hours a day of "privacy" he got by installing 4K of solar. No reference to whether that meter system is moral, ethical or legal, no apparent awareness that people must be able to opt out. Who is this happy brainwashed man? How was he damaged in this way?
