Yes but you have to watch the entire clip to see if he will answer the phone or not, it kinda sets up a little stress to see whether or not he will be beat this kinda situation, or hide in the bottle.

All that was established in the first 5-10 seconds.. it did not need a full minute to establish to the viewer that he was drinking. Honestly, I got the idea just from the youtube video preview.

See that's a fair answer. I suppose I was just anxious to see a face and its reaction to the phone as well.. not just a refilling shot glass.

Pretty lights.
If you're going to try and tell a coherent story with a beginning, middle, and end in 60 seconds, you don't have much choice except to strip everything down to the bare essentials.

Exactly, one gimmick.. now tell me.. what reason is there to 'watch' this?

Exactly, you could receive as much information about this from listening as opposed to watching. There is almost no reason to 'watch' this.

there's adifference between a short and a one minute short. A one minute short can rely entirely on one idea or "gimmick" whereas something longer would require more to it.
Nice work SgtP!
But there is point to watch AND listen. Listen to the man on the phone, but watch how the main character is reacting to a situation. I.E. the constant REfilling of his glass with alcohol. its showing that the MC isnt taking the situation well and is using the alcohol as an escape, even during the please of his brother over the phone.

there is no reason to watch anything, the only reason you watch anything is solely because you yourself want to do so or it is forced upon you.
