Using paper that has ink is really, really bad for them. I really reccomend switching... Aspen shavings aren't very dusty, either. Carefresh Ultra is better than regular Carefresh. If their noses are discharging porphyrin, it's usually the bedding causing it. Vinegar can be used as a cleaning solution on cages. It works like bleach without the damaging chemicals. And
there are rat cage calculators online that tell you if your cage can fit the amount of rats you need it to :]

@ilikecandysandstuff True. Cedar causes cancer and pine is dusty. Aspen seems ok and apparently care fresh is some of the best you can use. I used shredded paper though because it was cheap!

If your rats ahve discharge thats red... then they have an upper respiratory infection and without treatment, they die....

@Heartbroken1014 Are you a vet? I talked to mine and he said as long as I switch from shavings to something else, they will be fine. They lived for 3.5 years which is longer then the average life span for a rat.

i have a question i have seen some times that my rats are bleeding in the nose those that is bad or normal beacouse they seem very good
