July 11, 2009, at ReaderCon in Burlington, MA. This was an excellent Rhysling Award reading overall, but one of the highlights was without question was Amal and Cat's performance of their collaborative poem "Damascus Divides the Lovers by Zero, or the City is Never Finished." The poem went on to place 3rd in the Rhysling Award long poem division; however, by the end of the hour both of these poets were Rhysling laureates. Cat won in 2008 for her poem "The Seven Devils of Central California," while Amal was less than an hour from learning that her poem "Song for an Ancient City" was this year's winner in the short poem division.
Wonderful to have this for posterity! Thanks so much for sharing your art, and for the evocative reading!
