  • Why are those assholes talking in the background when they have a future world class tenor singing in front of them?

  • Ha, thanks! But hey, that's South Philly for you.

  • @jaypenn123 Sir. Thank you for explaining the situation. It certainly was not obvious in the film clip which was posted. To any person looking in it seemed like a musical gathering where the audience were ignoring the artist. As they say,,,one lives, and one learns. Thanks, and best wishes.

  • @Ivanhoe2 they are not swine. they are participating in an almost century old tradition. have you ever been there? who have you heard sing there? i heard Pavarotti himself sing there after a show at Philly's academy of music. and guess what, the people who were in the side room, couldn't see him and didn't know he was singing. they kept talking, and he just sang. it was magical. they did quiet down when word got to them that it was Pavarotti, but it's not s.o.p there.

  • @dibeling well, to be fair: the Cafe has been there for decades, this is the culture there. it's not a recital hall, it's a small busy restaurant (patronized most frequently by people who don't live in philadelphia, thank you very much). i worked there about 12-15 years ago, it just goes with the territory and teaches sometimes much-needed humility.

  • amazing!

  • @Ivanhoe2 Maybe pigs bring out the ham for him?
