Rather cheeky :-o but I wondered, could you tell me have I vaguely got the right end of the stick here??

I don't have a teacher at the moment and found the book a wee bit confusing though it sounds like it is potentially really useful if I can get my head round it, especially as I'm trying to get rid of tension in my embouchure...

I was doing an exercise someone recommended to me and uploaded the video so she could tell me if I was doing it right - she lives in Canada, I live in the UK, so it's not like I could pop over for a quick lesson. It's not up for entertainment value, surprisingly enough...!

Yes, amazingly you are doing the exercise exactly right!

Good for you! Good eyes and ears!!

Now, take about twice as long to smear down the octave.

Allow both notes (high and low) to, for a brief moment, be sounding simultaneously. Hold the notes out longer. Eventually you will discover the "breaking point" and you'll figure out the "sweet spot" where both notes are easy to toggle between.
