This American flag hung from the Dunlop rigging on a construction site in Jamaica Plain MA. The rig stretched up 30 stories above the Jamaica Way, reaching the roof of the building being restored. Video was taken at 18 stories in 30MPH wind.

  • Oh i agree with that wholeheartedy!!! Absolutley fly your flag!!

The material and size of the flag makes a big difference as to how it flies, n different wind conditions.

With wind like that, a cotton flag would fly beautifully - as cotton is heavier, and also a more porous material, it takes wind to get it going, and it would look like its being ripped off the pole like this one does. - it would have a slower 'wave' :)

  • Sure it is, but that doesn't mean that you keep it in your garage because you don't want it to rip. Fly it for everyone to see!

  • it is still good to try and prevent it from happening.

  • Preventing the burning and intentional ripping of the flag, yes. However, the natural ripping of the flag while blowing in the wind is natural.

  • well.. thats rather besides the point... We should be PREVENTING the destruction of the flag, not having the attitude that it doesnt matter because you can go to the store and by a new one...

  • That's alright. Leave it out there. Can always get a new one.

  • wowz!! you wanna be careful with the flag in such wind - it wont last very long if its left like that all the time!

    look nice though

  • What a flag...
