Hahaha, I just got back from Guangzhou today. The taxi drivers were awesome. Doin' 140kph into the city no seatbelts and cutting off massive semi trailers and busses. The guy even did a U turn in the middle of the freeway. Got from the airport to Shamian Island in the middle of the city about 40km's in about 30 minutes cost RMB170 ($15.60) Heart pumping adrenalin filled fun. Travelled to and from Pazou complex for five days for work. 30 minute taxi ride each way.

your hotel must have been in the middle of nowhere. No taxi ride in Guangzhou should cost more than 100RMB.
