The "Nat Turner" Documentary: The Return of Black Manhood

In August 1831, the Honorable Nat Turner gathered Black Family together in the woods of Southampton County, VA and plotted a rebellion against the white plantation owners. The uprising sparked a flame that fueled other imprisoned Brothers and Sisters to take up arms all over the south, putting intense pressure on the white plantation owners to end chattel slavery.

Nearly 200 years later, the Nat Turner Day Weekend Celebration serves as the spark that will ignite the flame to fuel the Black Family to continue to REBEL as courageously as our Afrikan Ancestors before us!

Featured speakers and edutainers included: Umar Abdullah-Johnson, Autumn Ashante, Kush (the Black Unifer) of PKV, the Universal Afrikan Dance and Drum Ensemble, Mwalimu Baruti, The Irritated Genie of Soufeese, Brothas Keepa and the band Colie & Soul for a New Day.
