This week (2/1/11), in ADTICIPATION, I take a look at a "text only" advertisement for Francesco Vezzoli at the Gagosian Gallery on 21st Street opening on Saturday; the TRIPPLE THREATs (recommended by at least 3 publications) are Christian Marclay at Paula Cooper Gallery, Seth Price at Friedrich Petzel Gallery, & David S. Allee at Morgan Lehman Gallery; and it is the FINAL WEEK for Leslie Thornton at Winkleman Gallery in Chelsea and Jeff Gibson at Stephan Stoyanov Gallery in the Lower East Side. Supermodel faces photoshopped on renaissance “Madonna & child” paintings, embroidered with “tears” made up of various modern artworks – all displayed in melting gold frames in a gallery constructed to look like a chapel– complete with a stained glass window.
